what it means

to get old

but i can tell you

your face will show lines

like the wrinkles in your sheets

crinkled

more or less

depending on

how much you

smiled

stressed

sunbathed

and how many times

you repeated the process

weighing down your eyes

are the stories of love

lost

stolen

and found

even when

your nose

changes size and shape

you can still smell

the same

people you know

and places you’ve been

there’s more to age

than meets the eye

or whoever you meet

before you die

so please

don’t straighten

the wrinkles in your sheets
