the great big sky

we live under

so wondrous

vast

open

ever-changing

reminds me

we are great big skies

though

we can cloud our minds

with the day to day

put blinders on our life

and wait for nightfall

the great big sky

waits for day

for our gaze

our contemplation

and our action

sitting below

the great big sky

we can look up

at the majestic entrance

of light in our world

light in our lives

why not sit under the sun

and wonder

why the clouds look like that

ponder

how they shift and change

why not shift our focus

to the warmth

the soft glow

the beaming rays

and wonder

why the sunlight looks different

every time we turn our gaze

there are no stable things

in a mind evolved

to evolve

so i have to tell you

you won’t see the same sky

every day of your life

but the beauty is in

the unknown

the waiting

the resting

in knowing that

the great big sky

always sits above

waiting for us to observe

and appreciate its beauty
